Sarah Welliver (Summer 2007) at Coligny Beach on Hilton Head Island, S.C. Welliver has been a photographer for The Island Packet in Bluffton, S.C., since October 2008, after leaving a six-month photo internship with The Santa Fe New Mexican.

A graduate of the University of Montana, she was a Summer 2007 Chips Quinn Scholar at the Detroit Free Press. She was managing editor of multimedia for the Montana Journalism Review at her school. A 2006 graduate of the Freedom Forum's American Indian Journalism Institute, she spent that summer as an intern at the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, S.D. She is a member of the Native American Journalism Association and was a photographer for reznet, an online student newspaper for Native America.
