Host newspaper: St. Cloud (Minn.) Times
What I
know about my internship newspaper:
The St. Cloud Times is a
Gannett-owned paper that has a daily circulation of around 28,000. The photo
editor is Dave Schwarz. The media editor, Mike Knaak, is relatively new.
What
I'll be doing at my internship newspaper:
I will be shooting a variety of
photo assignments including spot news, sports, features and portraits. I also
hope to contribute to the paper’s multimedia and video offerings. I’d like to learn
as much as I can about the SaxoPress editorial system and about the paper’s blogs
and podcasts.
How I
got interested in journalism:
I have always been interested in
politics and news. I got interested in photojournalism as a career after taking
photographs while volunteering as a park naturalist at Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota four summers ago.
What
I'll pack:
My camera gear, laptop and bug
repellent (I’m not sure how bad it is in a city, but I remember hearing clouds
of mosquitoes at Voyageurs).
What I
do for fun:
I enjoy camping and hiking,
reading, playing sports and of course rooting for the Dodgers and Lakers.
