Hometown: Columbus, Ohio
College: Ohio University
Host
newspaper: Lancaster (Ohio) Eagle-Gazette
What I know about my internship
newspaper:
A Gannett publication since
2000, the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette has a circulation of about 15,000. In 2005, the
Knight Foundation noted that its Newsroom Diversity Index far surpassed
that of other newspapers of similar size.
What I'll be doing at my internship
newspaper:
I will report and write a
minimum of two news stories daily and rotate throughout the newscenter,
performing many of the tasks necessary to producing a daily publication.
How I got interested in journalism:
Midway through my tenure working
for a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, I determined that a career in
journalism would allow me to use my writing ability to serve a greater
constituency. I could observe and comment on the human condition in an
effort to bring about social change.
What I'll pack for orientation:
Laptop and more clothes than one
person can wear in a single weekend.
What I do for fun:
Spend time with my family and
friends, shop, read and travel.
