Hometown: San Diego, Calif.
College: Hampton University
Host newspaper: Tallahassee (Fla.) Democrat
What I know about my internship
newspaper:
The Tallahassee Democrat is a Gannett newspaper with
a circulation of 60,000. It has a local feel, with stories geared toward what
readers would be interested in most. It is working to improve its Web site.
What I’ll be doing at my internship
newspaper:
I will be a multimedia intern working with the multimedia
and innovation editor on creating sports multimedia reports, podcasts, video,
stories and audio. I will focus on community and recreational sports as well as
Florida State University, Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College.
How I got interested in journalism:
I love to write and I love basketball. I developed into a 5-foot-6-inch
shooting guard who didn’t play defense. I realized that basketball wasn’t my
ticket. I wanted to get as close to the game as possible and voila, I’m a
journalist.
What I’ll pack:
Besides the bare essentials, I’ll pack five books to read, a
computer, issues of ESPN The Magazine and GQ, a journal, pens and R&B
music.
What I do for fun:
Read, write stories and poetry, follow sports, watch TV,
crack jokes, eat and sleep
