Karen Catone

Before being named the program’s full-time director in July 1999, she was manager/journalism programs at the Freedom Forum. Those programs included the Chips Quinn Scholars Program, Administrator of the Year Award, Teacher of the Year Awards, and the Professionals-In-Residence program. Before making the transition to her current position, she coordinated grants and scholarship programs. She began her career with the Gannett Foundation (now the Freedom Forum) in 1974 as a clerk typist.
